Good old turmeric or haldi not just adds colour and flavour to your favourite curries, but does a lot more than that! Yes ladies, we are speaking about the benefits of turmeric for skin. Since time immemorial, our nanis and dadis have been using haldi to make ubtan, and their skin speaks for itself. Even today, some of the biggest B-town beauties like Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor Khan, use turmeric for glowing skin.

And if you think it’s only celebrities back home who swear by this condiment, then you’re mistaken. Hollywood hottie Victoria Beckham too has said that she mixes turmeric powder with aloe vera to make a face pack. That’s because turmeric is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, and enhances the health of your skin.

So, what is the right way to add turmeric to your skin care routine? Let’s find out!

1. Use turmeric with your moisturiser

This might sound odd, but ladies you must do this! Add a little turmeric powder to your moisturiser, and use it every day. Since it has anti-inflammatory properties, you can trust turmeric to help reduce blemishes, and heal the skin in every possible way! The next time you receive compliments for your skin, don’t forget to thank turmeric.

2. Apply turmeric to your lips

No, we haven’t gone out of whack! You can mix a pinch of haldi to your favourite lip balm or vaseline, and say hello to soft and supple lips. This is particularly useful in winter, when your lips become excessively dry and chapped, due to the climate. Always keep this tip in mind, and you’ll never suffer!

3. Make face packs with turmeric

If you follow Priyanka Chopra, you know how turmeric can work wonderfully well as a face mask. Recently, she gave us a sneak peek into her home-made face mask that had the goodness of chickpea flour, yoghurt, lemon, whole milk, sandalwood powder, and of course, turmeric. Using this regularly will help you improve your skin’s texture, and remove blackheads.

4. Use turmeric under your eyes to get rid of dark circles

If you are often sleep-deprived, and suffer from dark circles and puffiness, then it’s time to embrace the goodness of turmeric. You could mix it with your favourite essential oil and apply it directly under the eyes for a few minutes. It will reduce puffiness in no time!

So, what are you waiting for? Add turmeric or haldi to your skin care routine and get radiant skin in no time!
