A rinse made from natural ingredients can go a long way in protecting your hair against a variety of issues, and supplement its health. All you need is to utilise some kitchen staples to keep your tresses healthy, and steer clear of common problems like dry hair. Dry hair is caused when the scalp is not able to produce adequate quantities of oil to moisturise your hair, or if moisture escapes the hair in large amounts.
The best part is that you can prepare a hair rinse that is specifically aimed at dealing with your hair issues. So, if you’ve been dealing with dry hair, worry not because we have a hair rinse that you can prepare using only two ingredients — rice water and honey.
Rice water contains amino acids and a component called inositol, which helps strengthen the roots, and repair hair damage. The vitamin E, B, and antioxidants content helps promote hair growth and retain moisture in the hair. On the other hand, honey is an emollient and has antioxidant properties, which moisturises the hair, and reduces breakage. Honey also has antibacterial properties, warding off infections.
Here’s what you’ll need
-1 tbsp honey
-½ cup rice
-Water
Step 1: Add one cup of water to half a cup of rice. Let it sit for at least two hours.
Step 2: Heat one cup of water and honey to it, stir it well, allowing this mixture to infuse. Let it brew for 5-10 minutes.
Step 3: Strain the rice water. You should ideally retain the rice to use for cooking!
Step 4: Add the infused honey to the rice water. Your hair rinse is ready!
Wash your hair the way you generally do! It is ideal to use warm water in order to open up the pores on the scalp, allowing for better absorption of the hair rinse.
Apply the hair rinse to your hair, starting from the roots and then, along the length of your hair. Wait for 10-15 minutes before washing it out! You can, however, skip washing it out and let your hair dry, after applying this hair rinse.
Use this hair rinse at least once or twice a week, after washing your hair. You will see the results only after regular use! Wait no more, and make this rice water and honey hair rinse an integral part of your hair care routine.
