2020 was a year when everything went for a toss, and that includes my hair. For those who know me, I don’t leave the slightest opportunity to experiment with my hair. You name it and I have done it—the wackiest of hairstyles and colours. And trust me, I have been so particular about taking care of my mane, but alas, last year changed everything.

I think it was sometime in July or August, when I first experienced an itchy and irritated scalp. Within a few days, my scalp was covered with dandruff flakes. I almost got a panic attack (I told ya I am obsessed with my hair), but on the insistence of a friend, I decided to try a few products, and boy, they were so expensive. The results were temporary and soon enough my scalp was experiencing a snow shower (no kidding). The flakes were everywhere—on my clothes, my pillow, and just about everywhere else.

A few days later, I was at an event where I met a beauty expert, who suggested I try the True Frog Anti-Dandruff Shampoo. Thank god, I listened to her, because my dandruff vanished after a few washes!

Goodness of natural ingredients

Like I mentioned earlier, I don’t even know how much money I spent on the fanciest of products to get rid of my dandruff. Unfortunately, not only were these shampoos and conditioners laden with chemicals; they were also exorbitant and I saw hardly any results.

I think the biggest reason I went ahead with the True Frog Shampoo was because of the various natural ingredients it has in its formulation. There’s black pepper and inga bark extract, lemon extract and tea tree oil, aloe vera leaf juice, panthenol and added antioxidants. You know what I mean?

Each of these ingredients has its own benefits:

  • Tea-tree oil possesses anti-fungal properties and removes dandruff-causing fungi
  • Black pepper rebalances the scalp, regulates microbial flora, and removes dandruff
  • Aloe vera leaf juice prevents itchiness of the scalp and moisturises it
  • Lemon extract helps to seal the cuticles and promotes intense hydration
  • And lastly, inga bark extract soothes the scalp

And when all these ingredients come together, it really is a party (or what I’d like to believe).

Also, I noticed that you don’t have to use too much shampoo to see results, which is a win-win for me!

Did I see a difference in my dandruff?

I think after the second wash, I felt my dandruff flakes reduce. Thankfully, my hair didn’t feel itchy and I was comfortable stepping out without feeling conscious. I decided to continue using the shampoo and I think in the next few washes, my tresses were dandruff-free!

Since the shampoo is mild and contains so many natural ingredients, not once did I experience any kind of harshness on my scalp. I think my hair loss went down, and overall, my tresses looked so healthy and shiny.

Although my dandruff has completely vanished, I haven’t given up on this product. I think it’s a fighter through and through!
