Pulling that strand with split ends is really not the solution, ladies. The problem lies deep within, and that’s why we are here with a few simple tips and tricks to help you get rid of split ends.
But before the big reveal, let’s find out why these split ends happen from time to time. That’s because you are undernourished: yes, it’s true. Dr. Nandini Barua, senior consultant – dermatologist at Paras Hospital, Gurugram, explains that our hair grows continuously, and having split ends is a sign of hair damage.
“Not many of us are aware that recurring split ends are triggered by the deficiency of vitamin B3 and B12 in your body. Also, if your hemoglobin is low, and if you suffer from hormonal issues, then split ends will again be a problem for you”, she says.
Fret not, there’s always a solution for every problem. That’s why we have 5 simple hair care tips for you that’ll help prevent split ends and hair breakage:
1. Go for frequent hair trimming
What’s important to understand is that when it comes to split ends, the problem lies in the outermost layer of the hair, and that’s why regular trimming of your hair is mandatory!
“When split ends happen, the outermost layer of the hair cuticle and keratin is affected. I recommend people to go for trimming at least once a month to avoid this hair issue”, she recommends.
2. Avoid frequent use of blow dryer and other hot tools
The more hot tools and hair dryers you use, the more damage you’ll cause to your hair. These things suck all the moisture from your hair, and leave it dry and undernourished. It is also because of this reason that your hair suffers from split ends and breakage.
3. Have a proper diet
“You must have a proper diet, which is rich in vitamins and proteins. Also, add a biotin supplement or replenish it naturally for beautiful and long hair. Include fish, dry fruits, avocados, oats, and soya to your diet”, she recommends.
4. Avoid frequent hair treatments
If you spend most of your time in the salon getting those fancy hair spas or treatments done, then let us warn you that they’re going to do more harm than good! Why may you ask? This is because these treatments are loaded with chemicals, and that’s going to make your case even worse!
“I would suggest you to use simple kitchen ingredients like eggs, curd, bananas, etc to nourish your hair. And if the nourishment is right, then you won’t need all these hair treatments”, she explains.
5. Use a conditioner to hydrate your hair
“This is a thumb rule: whenever you wash your hair, lock its moisture by using a layer of conditioner to protect your hair from damage. This way you’ll keep your hair hydrated, avoid breakage, and reduce recurring split ends too”, she explained.
So ladies, give your hair some TLC and in no time will you have beautiful hair free from split ends!
