As a child, I remember my mother using a dark green coloured oil with a strong, not-so-pleasant aroma, for her hair. At that point, I really didn’t know this magical potion works wonders for hair loss.

I was only sixteen, when I first dealt with severe hair loss. For a long time, it didn’t bother me, but then I noticed my hair looked much thinner, by the time I reached second year of college.

My mother, too, has suffered from extreme loss in the past, but today she has long, thick hair that’s the envy of many. Her hair transformation has always impressed me, and that’s when I asked her the secret to her long, luscious locks. When she said bhringraj, I knew I had to give it a try!

I began using it two years ago to do a champi or massage, and trust me, it blew my mind! Slowly and steadily, I saw my hair loss reduce, and today my tresses are shiny and healthy.

Impressed with the results, I did my little research on why this oil works like magic and here’s what I found.

It’s all about science

Bhringaraj is one of the most effective ayurvedic herbs to treat hair loss. Various studies published in the journal Archives of Dermatological Research, BioMed Research International and, International Journal of PharmTech Research have also proved this claim. Even though these studies have been conducted on mice, the evidence is quite strong and promising.

Bhringraj benefits hair by providing nourishment and hair-boosting properties. This herb contains flavonoids, phytosterols, and coumestans that work well together to help fight hair loss and thinning. A study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology confirmed that these components help to increase the density and size of your hair follicles. The bigger the size of the hair follicles, the stronger are your hair roots, and lesser is the chance of hair fall.

Moreover, bhringaraj increases the blood circulation in the scalp and hair roots, and that spells good news for hair growth. The oil also has strong anti-microbial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties that help prevent infection, and tackle dandruff that leads to hair loss.

Thanks to the benefits of bhringraj oil, I am blessed with healthy and strong hair. And with bhringraj by my side, I don’t have to go through the nightmare of hair fall again!
