If there’s one thing I am really particular about, it is my hair. You could say I am partially obsessed with my tresses, and I do not lose out on any opportunity to buy products every now and then. My bathroom shelf is crying out for help, and unfortunately, so is my hair. You might wonder why. Well, because instead of relying on natural ingredients, I choked my hair with chemical-laden products, and the outcome is nothing like I had expected. My hair had turned dull and lifeless, and it began to bother me a lot. I knew I needed a miracle cure to revive its lustre, and thankfully I found one.

It was sometime last month when I was speaking with a friend, who suggested I try a hair mask that has the goodness of banana and ghee. To be honest, when she said ghee, I laughed out loud. “Are you crazy? Do you really think ghee will make my hair better? What if I lose all my hair?” was my response. She asked me to trust her advice, and I am glad I did. Because my hair transformed with just two uses!

But before I tell you how to make this mask, let me tell you why this hair mask with banana and ghee works.

The goodness of natural ingredients

Bananas are high in vitamin B6, C, potassium, dietary fibre, and magnesium. And all these nutrients help to nourish not just your body, but also your hair. They don’t just help with restoring the hair’s lustre, but also makes them more manageable. Yes, it’s true. My hair gets so frizzy all the time, but banana has proved to be a saviour. Plus, my hair felt very dry at one point, but it’s so soft to touch now.

Most of us know how ghee has made a comeback in recent times. This Ayurvedic ingredient is not just used in traditional Indian recipes, but anecdotal evidence also proves that it’s great for your hair. Not only does it condition your scalp, but it also helps your hair to grow.

With these two nourishing ingredients coming together, I had to see results.

Here’s how you can make the hair mask with banana and ghee

2-3 medium-sized bananas
3 tbsp ghee

  1. Mash the bananas properly, leaving no chunks behind.
  2. Now, add 3 tablespoons of ghee.
  3. Blend the mixture well until you have a thick paste.
Here’s how you can apply this hair mask with banana and ghee

1. Apply the mixture with the help of a hair colour brush.
2. Make sure the mixture gets deep into your roots. Coat your entire scalp and all your hair.
3. Let it sit for at least two hours. Wash your hair with lukewarm water and shampoo it thoroughly.

The last word

I have used this hair mask with banana and ghee at least four to five times, and every time I do, my hair looks shiny and frizz-free. And guess what? The effect is not just temporary. I have seen a marked improvement in my hair. To begin with, my tangles have reduced (goodbye frizz), and the ends are no longer dry. My hair looks so much more nourished, and healthy. You must try it out to see the difference. Trust me, you’ll give up on all those expensive products!
