There is no doubt that having voluminous hair is a part and parcel of factors that  help us build confidence in our looks. So, suffering from a hair loss problem can be heart-wrenching for some. Try as many as chemical-based products, but there are some natural products which can work wonders too. This Ayurveda Day, let’s see how you can get back your voluminous hair with the help of Ayurvedic techniques!

Health Shots reached out Dr Chaitali Deshmukh, an Ayurvedic consultant with an M.D. in Ayurveda, to get some valuable insights on hair care according to this ancient medicine system. Dr Deshmukh says that with holistic health practices, Ayurveda also offers a wide range of treatment modalities and herbal remedies. Ayurveda is capable of providing us with strong, natural medicines that improve our natural ability to grow hair without causing any negative side effects.

Causes of hair fall

“According to Ayurveda, the quality of your bone tissue directly correlates with hair loss. Hair loss is a normal side effect of bone tissue deterioration,” says Dr Deshmukh. Several factors can cause hair loss, including:

* Improper nutrition
*  Late nights and long hours are part of an erratic and irregular lifestyle.
* Environmental elements include climate change and pollution
* Stress, insufficient rest, and anxiety

These elements may cause an excessive build-up of toxins in the body.

Here are some Ayurvedic remedies for hair regrowth

1. Shirodhara

‘Shiro’ and ‘Dhara’ stand for the head and flow, respectively. In this therapy, your head is massaged while warm oils are poured over it. “Shirodhara promotes greater blood flow and hair growth. This is among the best Ayurvedic remedies for hair loss,” says the Ayurvedic expert.

2. Shiro Abhyanga

Dr Deshmukh explains that in this treatment, the head is massaged using oils like Neelibhringadi Thailam (an anti-hair fall ayurvedic oil), coconut, and til oil (sesame seed). It is done to hydrate the scalp and roots. In addition to nourishing your sensory organs, it will aid in preventing the heating up of the scalp and hair aging. Additionally, it strengthens nerve endings and helps hair follicles. By improving blood flow to your nerve ends, this Ayurvedic hair loss treatment helps you combat your hair loss issues.

3. Shirolepa hair pack

This hair pack is applied on the entire scalp of your head to help cool the head. “This Ayurvedic remedy for hair regrowth repairs split ends, helps eliminate dandruff, controls frizz, and reduces hair fall. Additionally, it helps with a variety of conditions like headaches, sleeplessness, and migraines,” says Dr Deshmukh. With improved blood circulation, it helps eliminate the toxins from your body.

4. Herbs

Aloe vera, curry leaves, hibiscus, amla (gooseberry leaves), methi (fenugreek leaves), coconut oil, and til (sesame seeds) oil are a few herbs you can utilize. The head benefits from them. You can eat these herbs or apply them topically to the head. Learn how these herbs can be used as hair packs and cleaners.
