Have you ever scrolled through social media and stumbled upon a trendy power smoothie that claims to solve all your hair loss problems? Well, we recently came across a ‘power smoothie’ and reached out to a nutritionist to know if it is really worth the hype. Let’s take a look at what this power smoothie for hair loss is made of and how beneficial it is for your hair.

This power smoothie is basically just a blend of a variety of seeds. Chia seeds, flax seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and lotus seeds along with almonds and dates. “Chia seeds, flax seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and lotus seeds all offer various benefits for hair health,” says Shalini Arvind, Chief Dietitian, Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta Road, Bengaluru. Here are some of the potential benefits of each seed.

1. Chia seeds: The expert says these are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, protein, and antioxidants. Chia seeds can help promote hair growth and reduce hair breakage. They also contain a high amount of zinc, which may help prevent hair loss.

2. Flax seeds: Flax seeds are a great source of omega-3 fatty acids and lignans, which are compounds that have been shown to improve hair health. Omega-3 fatty acids help nourish hair follicles, promote hair growth, and reduce inflammation on the scalp, while lignans may help prevent hair loss.

3. Sunflower seeds: “Sunflower seeds are rich in vitamin E, which is an antioxidant that helps protect hair from damage caused by free radicals,” says Arvind. Vitamin E also helps improve scalp circulation, which can promote hair growth.

4. Pumpkin seeds: Pumpkin seeds are a great source of zinc, which is important for maintaining a healthy scalp and promoting hair growth. “They also contain iron, which is essential for healthy hair growth,” says Arvind.

5. Fox nuts: They are rich in protein, iron, and zinc, all of which are important for healthy hair growth. They also contain vitamin B complex, which helps maintain the overall health of the hair and scalp.
