Taking care of our hair can be cumbersome, as factors such as environment, diet, stress levels, and usage of hair products can cause damage. To mitigate these factors, and achieve long and strong hair, essential oils, such as lavender, can be extremely helpful.
The best part is that hair oil made of natural ingredients will help you target the areas that require the most attention. So, from promoting hair growth, to strengthening the roots, a hair oil made of lavender, and boosted by the power of vitamin E, will come to your rescue.
As per a research published in the journal Toxicology Research, lavender oil helps with hair growth. Its antiseptic properties help in warding off head lice, and the antibacterial properties inhibit the growth of any bacteria and fungi, preventing dandruff or common scalp infections.
When it comes to vitamin E, a research published by Tropical Life Sciences journal, revealed that vitamin E helps improve hair growth, and its antioxidant properties help reduce oxidative stress in the scalp. Vitamin E also increases blood flow to the scalp, which encourages hair growth and increases the size of the hair follicle.
So, ready to nourish your hair?
-Fresh or dried lavender flowers
-Coconut oil (preferably unpressed)
-1 to 2 vitamin E capsule
Step 1: Cut off the stems of lavender flowers, as the leaves, flowers and stems are to be used to be infused to make the oil. In a clean glass jar, pour boiled water, and then add the stems, flowers and leaves of lavender to it.
Step 2: Fill the jar with coconut oil. Now, puncture the vitamin E capsule(s) and add the extracts to the jar.
Step 3: Store the jar in a dry and warm place for a week. Ensure that you are shaking the jar often to release the essential oils.
Step 4: Strain out the lavender leaves, stems and flowers and filter the oil.
Your hair oil is now ready to use!
Step 1: Take a teaspoon of the oil and pour it on your scalp.
Step 2: Massage the oil thoroughly across the scalp and the entire length of your hair.
Step 3: Leave the oil for 15-20 minutes and then wash it off using a shampoo.
Remember that essential oils need to be diluted for application, as undiluted essential oil can cause burning and tingling on the scalp. You could also use an applicator bottle to target specific areas and remember you may store it for at least 5-6 months in a dry place.
So, ladies, use this hair oil at least once or twice a week and reap its benefits.
