So many of us regularly deal with the menace of dandruff. Besides the issue of aesthetics, dandruff is also an indicator of damaged, brittle and dry hair. If you are looking at protecting your hair from dandruff, then a hair mask made from natural ingredients can go a long way.
It could be a surprising thought at first, but all you need is a few kitchen staples to keep your hair healthy – coffee and ingredients such as coconut oil or honey.
Dandruff is a common condition which causes the skin on the scalp to flake, and can make your confidence take a plunge due to the flaky scalp being sprinkled over your shoulder and hair. Its symptoms include skin flakes on the scalp, itching sensation, and crusty scalp. It’s causes can include irritated and oily skin, dry skin, yeast fungus (malassezia), sensitivity towards hair care products, or skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.
Coffee is not just great for starting your day due to caffeine’s rejuviniating properties, it also provides various benefits to your hair. It contains antioxidants, such as phenols that help fight free radicals, thereby preventing hair damage. Its anti-inflammatory properties are due to the chlorogenic acid and melanoidins comprising coffee.
As per research published by Pharmatutor Journal, coffee has the ability to clean and exfoliate the scalp, making it free of bacteria and fungi that can cause dandruff. When it comes to hair growth, coffee strengthens the roots and aids re-growth. Besides, it is also a great ingredient for maintaining the pH levels and stimulating blood circulation on the scalp, as caffeine helps dilate blood vessels.
A coffee-based hair mask can stimulate hair roots and help manage dandruff. The exfoliating feature of coffee can detoxify the scalp, and remove buildup, and boost overall hair health.
You will need:
